From what I've read, there are mixed reviews, but the most common theme I've seen is that it has no bearing on severity or prognosis. Many of us are seronegative (negative RF) and have severe issues.

Most medical literature will say yes.... with a positive Anti CCP and RF you will most likely have a more aggressive and erosive disease course. That is why the Drs should be aggressive with your treatment. The drugs are intimidating though... many side effects and potential infections. It's not a great fix....The medical research needs to seek a cure... not just a way to manipulate our immune systems. But, we are all unique and have different experiences. You may respond very well to treatment.

Agree with cmiket74 100%! There are SO many factors (in the general sense; not teferring to “Rheumatoid Factor” here) and moving parts that no two RA cases are the same, let alone predictability of markers. cmiket74 makes an excellent point RE: seronegative RA, a very real manifestation of RA that many patients and even some clinicians are not familiar.
