There is a Shingles vaccine formulated with deactivated virus called Shingrix. Two doses are necessary 2-6 months apart. I had my 1st one 2 months ago. I will say I felt like a Mac truck hit me for 2 days afterwards (low grade fever, headache, joint/muscle aches), and I’ve been flaring like I never have since. I was recently diagnosed with lupus overlap (have had RA dx since 1990). I’m leery about getting the 2nd shot now.

If you are taking biologics, you can't get the shingles shot unless you go off your meds and they are out of your system.this is what my doctor's have told me. I would rather take my chances rather than go through the pain of not being on my drugs

That’s what I got... Shingrix 2 shots! Are hurt for almost a week but that was all!

Just read about Shingles Vaccine available in Canada this month that can be taken with biologics called Shingrix

I asked my rhumy doctor about the shingles shot. She said that they do have one now that you can take while on a biologics. She said that they don't have it at Cleveland clinic in Ohio yet,or in this area. I asked why? Did not get an answer for that.
