Hi all -
I'll be starting Methotrexate on Wednesday at a low dose. Any tips for the nausea, fatigue? When do you take it - am or pm? How often do you do bloodwork to adjust dose. How long before it started working for you? Do you take Folic Acid with it? Do you take steroids with it?
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks!
I was started on steroids until I could get into see a rheumy. She added methotrexate to the mix and slowly increased the dosage. She gave me a prescription for folic acid which I took daily with the steroid and the methotrexate weekly. I have never had a problem with methotrexate and side effects.
I am lucky..no side effects. I started on pills but now on injections with the addition of Humira. I always took pill of the morning and my Rheumy insist on Folic Acid. I have blood work every three months. I take steroids only when I am having a bad flare just to help put the RA back into remission. I will take a three week course of Steroids. I was also advised to take Biotion for hair loss, Magnesium and CoQ10 by my Rheumy. The Biotion has diffentatly helped, not so sure about the other two but I am currently in remission so I am not willing to take any chances.
Hi I'm on methotrexate, prednisone and folic acid and have never suffered any side effects.
Methotrexate also made my hair fall out! My RA Dr. Said it is a LOW DOSE chemo med!!!
Yes, I take folic acid twice a day. Thankfully I don’t get nauseated or have fatigue from it. Don’t take antibiotics while on MTX. That set me back from being able to increase my dosage bc I had to get in antibiotics twice. Can you take pepto bismal? That might help.
Feel well soon!
Be well.
