Recurring Ankle Swelling And Pain

A myRAteam Member asked a question πŸ’

Every time I go for my check up the nurse / doctor goes through the routine of asking which joints are hurting and how am I coping, All of the joints hurt but my left ankle is constant swollen and I have had it injected three times . To be honest I am not sure this is solving the problem. Has anyone else got or had this problem. What is the solution? πŸ™‚

I don't have the ankle problem but my left foot has been hurting badly and swells for the last 2 years.. I have been treated for plantar fasciitis and told this & told that... Gone to numerous foot doctors all to say it's just PF.. Well I got fed up and almost lost my cool with my primary doctor .. I told him there was something terribly wrong with my foot and that it was NOT PF and the xrays weren't showing a darn thing.. So I had an MRI and the MRI showed SYNOVITIS .... which is inflammation ... a hallmark characteristic of RA. Obviously, this proved my body had lots of inflammation. and obviously my RA medication I am currently taking is NOT working... I could have told them that.. I've cried in pain for 2 years thinking it was just a flare that would go away.... Or so they said. .. Not always does the SED blood test prove anything regarding inflammation. Hopefully you've had an MRI on your ankle.. I am miserable and am waiting for a treatment change on 10/2.. Good luck to you... Would like to know what you find out hon... let me know.

You might need orthotics for your shoes. I got mine after having PF a couple of times. I have found they helped me a lot. I can't walk any distance without them. I also wear support stockings and they help a lot also for the circulation in my legs. My ankles and legs still swell, but not as bad as they used to. This RA is not for sissies.

Have you consulted a orthopedic doctor? They also can help with solutions. They’ve help me as well with joint issues.
