I now take Leflunomide, 10 mg Prednisone and Humira Injection EVERY OTHER WEEK - but doeS anyone take the injection every week? At this time, I am waiting to be assigned to a different Rheumatologist due to mine retiring. I will be at the same clinic and am hoping to get the Dr I have requested. Just wondering if I can do that, I don't want to ask if it's not a common thing. My pain has increased on a day to day basis, have increasing number of flares, too.

Members responded to someone asking whether switching from biweekly to weekly Humira injections was common, confirming that several had successfully moved to weekly dosing when their symptoms returned before the next scheduled dose. Many members shared similar experiences of needing dosage adjustments over time, with some switching biologics entirely when inflammation persisted, and emphasized the trial-and-error nature of finding what works best for each individual body. A recurring theme was the importance of open communication with rheumatologists about breakthrough pain, staying flexible with treatment plans, and leaning on community support and prayer during the adjustment process.

I do Humira weekly, this is not the norm but my RA seems to never be under control and I can't take Methotrexate or a lot of other meds due to a very touchy liver!

Dr Jones seems to think that the Insurance will approve it because there is evidence in my chart with HIS notations that it was needed! I do feel some relief but still hurting some. I did increase my Prednisone from 5 to 10 milligrams under his direction. Yes he also said I might have to try a different biologic. Just keep on keeping on - do what I can but rest as much as possible.

It might be time for you to think about changing your biologic. Have you had a Vectra blood test done? It would tell you rheumy whether your meds are working adequately or not.

Yes, I took Humira once a week for a couple of years. I had no significant problems except during the cold and flu season they wanted me to stay away from crowds and when I went to my GP with a sick kid or when I was sick they wouldn't let us sit in the waiting room we went right in due to being immuno compromised. My Rhumitoligist just changed me to Cimzia due to still having problems with inflammation.
