To me a flare is when my knees swell ankles swell and it seems from my hips to my toes the bone pain is excruciating. I cannot drive my car walk far or sleep because of pain so bad. I have no idea what sets it off.

I've just got over a flare that lasted 4 weeks. It's just like what Mildred has said, although I don't have the swelling so much now but the pain just stops you in your tracks! My ankles and feet swell and I have to have help to walk, can't use a stick as my hands and wrists are too painful. It's a matter of rest till it burns itself out. Best wishes to all x

Whatever body part that is not working like it did the day before. Some days I can work through the pain and get the joint warmed up. The pain eases some.
