I am 54 and I was told by my orthopedic surgeon that I need both knees replaced. I have steroid injections for as long as I can tolerate the pain in hopes of waiting to get the knee replaced. I am waiting on it as long as possible as I have had RA related lung issues and we are going through that process at the time.

I'm 57 this year. Had full left knee replacement year and a half ago , 7 th December 2016 had my full right knee replacement. Best choice, no more bone on bone grinding. Had a spinal fusion in 2000 also a best choice. Had a normal life for 17 years, I've been pain free up until 5 weeks ago. Got other spinal discs bone on bone. Will have back op this year to fix. My original fusion is still strong and not the problem. I'm not looking forward to it but I know the pay off in the long run is worth it. Bone on bone grinding is the worst pain. Definitely not to young for operation, my surgeon said to me because if left to long the more damage is done the harder it is to heal. Big gentle hugs.

I had both my knees replaced at 49. Not sure why they would say that. I would get a second opinion. If you know other RA patients in your area ask who they have seen. A ortho familiar with RA makes a difference

I also and I am 53...pain is bad...hope that in the next few years they come up with some other solutions 😉

Very true....I had never heard about an age time or limit! Have not had a knee problem either!
