When my first Rheumatologist put me on methotrexate, she also prescribed Leucovorin (folate with calcium) because she said it would help combat the side effects. Granted, I was only taking the pills, but I'm wondering if it would still be of benefit with the injections too.

I've had way less side effects on the injections then I did the pills. I lost 40lbs on the pills because they made me so sick to my stomach. Switching to injections helped a lot. My hair just thinned out.

If you are on methotrexate your rheumy should give you a prescription for folic acid. the OTC folic acid is not strong enough. No side effects for me. 12 years so far.

I have never had my hair fall out, at least not more than usual, mouth (canker sores) yes, I di have Microscopic colitis, which is another automune disease, that I can handle with the use of Metamucil and water any time I feel I need releif, over night releife usually!
