I asked my rheumy about this today. I was concerned since I'm taking a biologic and MTX. As long as there is no live virus they recommend (as a matter of fact, practically insist) that patients take the flu shot. Although I stay around the house most of the time and don't go many places to be exposed (grocery once a week, etc) my husband isn't particularly a fan of the shot and he works in a mfg plant. The possibility he could bring it home to me is much greater then me picking it up from exposure somewhere.

I get the flu shot every year....you want the shot and not the mist....mist is a live virus and we can't do those....my doc says it is a good thing that I get it....only issue I have had is a sore arm a day or two afterwards....otherwise, no flu so far....did get the flu one year when I forgot to get my shot....never again will that happen....of course the flu shot doesn't keep you from getting it....you just won't get it as bad....I would do it...I'm getting ready to go get mine in fact...the sooner the better works for me....

I'm nervous about getting a flu shot. I had the pneumonia vaccine in July, and felt awful from it the next few days then ended up w/shingles two weeks after that. I'm sure both my GP and truly will both say I need it...:(

Talk with doc definitely, Before I was diagnosed I ran with an ambulance corps and we were advised to get a HepB shot. I got mine an ended up in the emergency room with an anaphylatic reaction. Remember we are dealing with a fouled up immune system

My general physician told me to get the shot, because if I got the flu I would end up in the hospital. I got the shot and no side affects.
