Cryo Therapy
So a few salons in my area are starting to offer Cryotherapy sessions. They advertise that this is good for several problems such as RA, Fibromyalgia etc. Anyone experience this type of therapy before? If so is it worth the money?
I've used it and found the results good all be it temporary. Apparently it encourages blood flow, burns calories and helps the body recover from injury. The cost is very high.
It's a really strange sensation it's not like the usual cold in fact I'd go as far to say it stings so much it feels hot. Really weird. I suppose this along with many other things we try haven't got scientific research but there again neither do many of our meds. If you have access and can afford it why not give it a go?
They had an article in the Houston Chronicle several weeks ago about this. You get in a circular "tub" with nothing on and the temperatures get down to -200F and you stay in for about 3 minutes. I experience pain just trying to hold a cucumber to peel when it has come out of the crisper in the fridge. There's no way I could handle it. The article went on to say that some people go 3 - 4 times a week. Also did say that there has been no definitive study to say that it helps long term.
I've also been checking into stem cell therapy, I'm desperate for relief that's for sure!
I've been interested in this, too. I'm a little nervous, but would try it once. I'm the same with the fibro and extreme heat and cold, but am interested. Thanks for asking the question.
