i have only had 2 injections so far. I usually feel better the weekend give taken it! I do experience a headache about 3 days after the injection which I take imitrex for and it goes away.. I take the med out of the fridge a half hr before I inject and it doesn't bother me. I inject in the abdomen. I have had a rash to the injection site area that apparently is common.
Well ladies I started my HuMira yesterday and have been sick as a dog today. Headache, musclerosis aches and nausea so bad. I hope this gets better. My whole body aches.
Make sure you wait at LEAST 30 minutes after taking it out of the fridge to inject! Especially if it's the Pen, not the syringe (The Pen injects the medicine really fast, so the pressure + speed of the medicine going in can be really painful). The medicine burns, but is MUCH more bearable when it's room temp vs. cold.
Side effects haven't been too bad for me- the only annoying thing is that the weekend that I take Humira I am REALLY fatigued and feel pretty sick for about 2 days. But I just take it on the weekend and make sure that I don't schedule anything and I'm fine by Monday.
Other than that, I feel SOO much better with Humira (so far- I've only been on it 2 1/2 months). So I really hope it works for you!
I have been on Humira for between 4-5yrs. I have had no side effects at all.
I am on Methotrexate and Humira- I was told the combination works well together. Is he putting you on another drug instead of Methotrexate? I take my Humira pen out 20 minutes before to warm up to room temperature and I use my thighs for injection. It burns a little but otherwise not a big deal. One time i did injection too close to my knee and I burst into tears. So make sure its on your thigh and you have enough "meat" in your hand to inject. I also count out loud to 12 to make sure all the meds go in. I cant think of any side effects from the Humira that are different or stand out. Sometimes the injection site itches next day or I get a bruise. I also had a nurse working with the drug company come out and show me how to use the pen and I could call her with questions. Good luck and don't over think it.
