On Mon. I will get the Lab results on a urine test. I went off my RA meds [Arava] as I don't want to keep suppressing my immune system which needs to fight this. I'm drinking more fluids, eating yogurt & drinking awful tasting unsweetened cranberry juice.

Members shared practical strategies for managing UTIs with rheumatoid arthritis, with several noting the importance of stopping RA medications during infections to allow the immune system to fight back. Many members recommended staying hydrated with water and herbal teas like Rooibos, while one member cautioned against cranberry juice, caffeine, chocolate, and high-acid foods, which a specialist warned could aggravate both UTIs and inflamed urethras. A recurring theme was the challenge of balancing infection treatment with immune-suppressing medications and finding gentler approaches that work for individual bodies.

Trimethoprim or nitrofuantoin I'd generally used in the UK for UTIs I don't know what it's like in the rest of the world but if cipro or amoxicillin hasn't worked I'd suggest one of the mentioned ones even as a 3 day course

In South Africa we have Rooibos tea, it is better to drink it without milk or sugar, helps cleanse kidneys, good luck

Just me, but my UTI occurrences were reduced significantly when my hubby and I started using condoms. My weakened immune system kept causing me to get UTIs, and the condom use has really helped.
