Members connected over the frustrating experience of losing their sense of taste while managing rheumatoid arthritis, with many describing food as tasting wrong, too sweet, or metallic, leaving them eating more in search of something satisfying. Several members identified medications as the likely culprit, particularly methotrexate, prednisone, folic acid, and Enbrel, with one member noting that taste improved as they tapered down prednisone. Practical strategies included fasting for a day with water only, keeping mints or gum handy, and adding extra salt to meals.

Yes I get this from time to time. I occasionally fast for the day and drink only water and tends to resolve things.

However if you have lost your taste buds and can't find them, I have some spare here you can have at half price to you ๐Ÿ‘

I too have changed taste buds. I think it is definitely medication related.
I can taste the desserts and sugary food.but spicy food taste bitter. I need to add more salt in my cooking.
Processed food with added flavor enhancers do not change my taste . As I was able to wean down from Prednisone, some of my taste buds seem to improve.

I am also having trouble with a bad / metallic taste in my mouth. I have been taking Enbrel for the last 2 months. This is a recent development, and I am also looking for any advice. Nothing tastes good.
