Does anyone else have visible swollen veins in their hands? I have a lot of swelling around my knuckles and joints in my hands and noticed on the bad days that my joints look blue from the swollen veins. Across the top of my hand and in my thumbs I have thick visible veins that I never had before, normally I'm a very bad stick when drawing blood w no visible veins.
Yep I get it whenever my hands are sore. It's because of the swelling I thought. When the swelling is deep it pushes the veins out .
I swear by arthritis gloves they help lots
I have had that on and off my entire life. Now its worse and my veins look really huge on top of my hands. At times, it spreads to my wrists. I also have some veins in my right leg that hurt - have also had that for a few years. I was only diagnosed with RA in March of this year, but the vein thing is just another indication that all my weird symptoms my doctors dismissed, equal RA!
I get the same. Sometimes my hands look normal and other days the veins on the back of my hands are raised and some of my joints are blue. If I rest my hands as best I can as you can't do a lot without them! they go normal looking again for a while. This has only been happening since I've had RA.
My veins go blue, then normal, then back to blue. The link I posted above is interesting. RA has so many complications that I would never have thought of. My great aunt suffered horribly and I thought it was *just stiff joints. This is an ongoing lesson for me. I had no idea. I am tapering off 6wks of prednisone. It will be interesting to see what happens. In my intro “story”, I discussed my hand surgery in 2020 and the ongoing pain. Both my hands have a life and will of their own. I fling things around the kitchen all day, spill food. Have no strength anymore. I used to get very frustrated but am learning to laugh as I dont want to be continually frustrated and angry. Whats the point. I am trying to find the humour………💦 🙄😬🥴🤣
