Thanks for all your helpful responses. I had my first appointment with my rheumatologist last Friday and she confirmed that I've tested positive for RA and she tested the various parts of my body (pressing on particular points) and could confirm straight away I've a bad case of Fibromyalgia. She said to me to stay on Sertraline 100mg and Vimovo 40mg a day and to start taking Lyrica (initially 25mg once a day for the first week and then build it up to 2 a day the second week. I met my gp today and she has encouraged me to take the Lyrica together with Amitriptyline 10mg - I only took the first Lyrica tablet today (my beloved uncle died last week and I was away at his funeral so didn't want to start new meds while away) and I'm scared of starting both the anti convulsant and the sleeping tablet for the first time together... anyone else on both of these? I have a lot of weight on and really hate the thoughts of putting on more weight. I've been eating clean/organic under the guidance of a nutritionist for almost 2 months and was promised the weight would fall off me but I have actually continued to gain. I have heard from a friend that Lyrica gave her terrible brain fog. I'm in a lot of pain at the moment and very stiff. Mind over matter though and I'm determined to push on for the sake of my 2 beautiful babies whom I'm so blessed to have. Hope you guys feel better soon. Have any of you tried LDN? I have heard it is great. I had a lovely Epsom salt bath tonight so I'm ready for bed now.
I was on Neurontin, or Gabapentin, for Diabetic Neuropathy, but it made the brain fog worse. I
m taking Lyrica now and it seems to work better.
Have you talked to your Dr.about fibromyalgia? I have RA and Fibromyalgia. I learned to tell the difference in pain because for me it's 2 different types. Your explanation was not weird. For me the soft tissue pain and feeling like I'm on fire is fibro. The joints nodes pain redness selling unable to move is my RA. Through research and conversations with Dr there are some issues that are same with both illnesses. Brain fog, exhaustion, depression, stiffness. My fibro care provider started me on gabupentin. That made so much difference in fibro it calms down nerve endings.
