Hi all,,,I recently had something happen that has never happened in the eleven years that I've had RA. I woke up one morning and felt like I had been kicked in the crotch. I thought it was a pulled muscle,,,I could barely walk and sleeping was near to impossible, could not get comfortable. At one point I thought it could be a hernia,,, or my insides were falling out! Anyone else ever had something similar?
I'm not sure it sounds similar to what I get.
Feels like some one shove a bad through my groin out of the the back side(cheek). And it's difficult to sit or lie down.
I have no idea what it is.
OMG,,, yes it does!!! I'm sorry that you are dealing with this,,,, but I can't help but feel thankful that someone really understands what I'm trying to explain!! I will definitely talk to my rheumy about this now,,, and I also had pain in my leg,,,I thought I was going crazy!! Thank you for responding!!
I have been dealing with something that sounds VERY similar for two years now. Mine started when I was doing laps in the pool a couple of years ago. I had to stop and I almost couldn't get out of the pool let alone walk back to our condo. The pain kept getting worse. I thought I had a groin injury.
The pain kept getting worse, but then it would come and go. It finally didn't go away and when I got back to Chicago my rheumy had me get an x-ray where it showed I had pretty bad arthritis. She attributed it to my lupus. In two years since this started it has gotten progressively worse and there is intense pain every day and night. This past summer that pain seemed to subside a little but I had a horrible pain in my lower leg. My internist had me get a Doppler because I could not put any weight on my leg for eight weeks. There were no blood clots. I complained to the nurse practitioner who I usually see in place of the rheumy. She had me go for x-rays of the lower leg, which showed nothing - except all the hardware in both knees is still fine. I was on Enbrel at the time adn it was making me feel worse and making the pain worse. I went off the Enbrel and started to feel the pain subside. After a few weeks the lower leg was close to pain free and teh groin area was back to its normal pain level.
I saw the rheyny just before I came out to AZ and she told me that the pain I was feeling in my groin, and when it affected my lower leg was actually displaced pain from my hip. She showed me six or seven places where the pain could occur, and one was the groin area. She had x-rays ordered to compare from two years ago and those showed an extreme amount of damage to my right hip. Very advanced RA.
I now do feel the pain in different parts of my hip, but it's always in the groin area. And today, for example, I am having a hard time walking because the pain is so severe - in my groin area.
Does this sound like what you're going through?
Yes, I too feel I am experiencing the same as you. I see my rheumy next week and plan on talking to her about it. I am taking prednisome and methotrexate for now. I was on humira for a couple of years but we decided to try to do without it and I was doing fairly well without it until this groin pain showed up a couple months ago. Hope to get some answers next week as this pain is really annoying and can be quite painful.
I also used to get groin pain, but fortunately haven't had in ages.
