I was given a diagnosis of RA over a year ago. In the past 3 months I get a pain in my groin area that stops my in my track. Instantly bringing my to tears and then the pain is gone but will continue if I step wrong. The Rheumatologist says its the RA and just game me tramadol for the pain. I take methotexrate orally one a week. Xrays show nothing. I'm not convinced it's RA. Waiting to see my Family Dr. In a couple weeks.

Members strongly resonated with the original poster's sudden, debilitating groin and hip pain, with many sharing that their own similar symptoms turned out to be hip-related issues ranging from RA-induced inflammation to severe osteoarthritis requiring hip replacement. Several members urged seeing an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hips rather than relying solely on X-rays, emphasizing that MRIs often reveal damage that X-rays miss, and sharing that hip replacement surgery brought life-changing relief even when they were told they were too young or when medications failed to help. A recurring theme was the frustration of not being taken seriously by doctors, the emotional toll of unrelieved pain, and the empowering advice to advocate fiercely for oneself, seek second opinions, and not give up until the root cause is identified and properly treated.

Go to an orthopedic surgeon who only does hips and knees. Took me two years to finally get my hip replaced. Best thing ever! Don't give up! No one believed me either. I was 42 and told I was too young. My hip was disintegrating from degenerative osteoarthritis (genetics). I'm 58 now. Hip is great and I take powerful anti inflammatory for OA and Humira shots for RA. Don't give up! It's not in your head. I believe you I was there. Hugs

Go to orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hips. Your regular Dr won't know what to do. It took me 2+years to find someone to take my horrific pain seriously. I was 42 and crying all the time, losing weight, depressed, the whole thing so I understand your pain. Heating pads and hot baths were only things that helped. Finally got my surgery and I was right. My hip socket was actually so damaged it was bone scraping bone. Ouch! Hip surgeon is the way to go!!! Soft hugs. Prayers too.

Could also be bursitis on top of the rheumatoid -- bursitis when it flares in my hips is practically debilitating!

I find yoga helps. RA is a mystery to me what pain is from OA, RA, or just normal getting older.

Is there anyone having UTI ISSUES. I keep having terrible burning pain. My primary dr puts me on antibiotics and a couple of days later starts all over again. I called my Rhuemotologist and she said everything comes from the ra. Does that make sense to any of u?
