I seem to have difficulty tolerating Folic Acid which was prescribed to help with the side effects of my injectable methotrexate. It seems that after I take it, my digestion is terrible. I'm starting to wonder if it's worth taking as my body seems to finally be adapting to the methotrexate. Mine was definitely methotrexate. Once my folic acid was increased, a lot of side effects diminished or disappeared...
I wonder if it's the MTX and not the folic acid? I have all kind of GI issues, and folic acid doesn't bother me at all. I take 4 mg. a day, just a FYI.
Yes I used to have problems associated with that. Then I just started putting fiber in my drinks 4 times a day and it took about two weeks but things calmed down.
I eat half of my dinner then take the folic acid,finish dinner and don't seem to have problems. I find that if I do that with the methotrexate also I don't get sick at all.
I take folic acid and leucovorin with the 7 pills of methotrexate. The leucovorin made all the difference.
