I was put on Imuran this week, my RA dr finally decided that I have Lupus. I say finally cause she has flip flopped for a couple years that I have it or I don't.

Anyway my question is: has anyone been on and seen results, how long did it take for relief,

Members shared their experiences with Imuran (azathioprine) for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, with several noting that it took about six weeks to feel relief and worked well initially, though some found their bodies eventually adapted to it or experienced troubling side effects. Several members described positive results, including reduced pain, improved energy, and better overall wellbeing, with one member praising the affordability of the medication compared to expensive biologics. A recurring theme was the importance of close monitoring, as one member experienced concerning kidney function changes, fluid retention, and fatigue, prompting urgent advice from others to contact their rheumatologist immediately about medication adjustments.

So I'm not doing so well now. I don't know if it's the imuran or what but I tire very easy. Have put on about 4pounfs and I was loosing weight. Dr says my kidney filtration rate has gone from 69 to 35. I get out of breath easy as well. Plus I'm having cysts in different places. I'm not happy. Calling my ra Monday he has got to give me some answers. I've had several blood tests done plus urinalysis twice. Also a ultra sound of kidneys and bladder. They should have that back on Monday. Anyone else had any problems like this?

Well my rheumy took me off of actemra injections due to a reaction. First one of the medicines I have ever reacted to. So I went from a 3000 dollar medicine to a 2.93 medicine that is a pill. The name of it is Azathioprine 50mg. I am doing soooo much better. I feel good and pain is very minimal. Energy is better too. Have any of you ever taken this medicine?
He said it was an old medicine and it was from the 90's.

Brenda the imuran was awesome for me. I got results quickly and felt the best I have ever felt. Then all of a sudden it quit working for me. It’s a very old medicine and it’s cheap that mount be why no one wants to use it. The doctors I mean. No kick back. Lol.

I too have had that happen the blood work from two different drs came back the same But one dr says lupus the other ra. It boiled down to the blood work all pointed to lupus but one tiny little something turned it to ra. So now Both have same symptoms. I go back next week I hope they get me on something for the pain. Plus nsaid and gout of the Ned’s made me sick I’ll ask her about Imuran
