Plaquenil Users

Plaquenil Users

I recently started Plaquenil (originally on in '07), and for the past week dealing with unpleasant GI side effects which I know I never had in past.

Difference this time I'm instructed to take both tablets together once a day. Before it was 1 tab twice a day.

I'm going to stop over the w/e & see how I feel...but anyone else with same?

I had the very same thing happen to me with Plaquenil and I was miserable on it. I would talk to the Dr and see if he can use a different drug. I had to get off of it or Never go out in public!!!

I took Plaquenil twice a day for over 10 years, but I took oneright after breakfast and one right after dinner at night. I don't see why they want you to take two at the same time. You would think that taking them am and pm that you would have a more consistent medical in your system. But that is between you and your RA doctor. Good Luck. What I have been told most RA patient end up with stomach issue because the meds and that they create more acid in the stomach. Bread help with acid build up.

I don't see why you can't take one every 12 hour instead of two at a time if that helps your digestive system. Don't hesitate to call your doctor and ask. You don't have to suffer through a whole weekend!
