I've been on biologics for 26 years. Infusions every 4 weeks. I can pretty much do what I want physically, sometimes with pain afterward, but I'll take it! It has been a miracle in my life.

Yes I do an injection of Enbrel every week. Can't imagine what my life would be without it. I feel pretty great most days. Only side effect is a slight itching and redness at the injection site. I put an ice pack on it and calms it right down.

- "I feel like a million bucks after my infusion. I wouldn't trade that for anything. I can do things, it's amazing — it really is worth it."
- "I'm starting to feel a little optimistic. Plans are in motion for biologics. I'm hopeful."

Of course, experiences can vary from person to person. Biologics work by targeting overactive proteins in the immune system that cause joint inflammation. Some people feel improvement within days of their first dose, but for most, it can take a few weeks or even months to feel the full effect.

Common side effects to be aware of include:

- Increased risk of infection (since biologics suppress parts of the immune system)
- Injection site reactions
- Headache and nausea

If any signs of serious infection appear — like fever, chills, rash, or unusual pain — it's important to contact a rheumatologist right away.

Talking openly with a rheumatologist about what to expect can make the journey feel a lot less daunting. 😊
