It just started recently like within the last month it feels like my leg bone is going to break thru my heel. It's excruciating pain has me in tears and can't put any weight on it. It last for a few minutes. Heat aggravates it and cold helps. I'm on Embrel started that about 8 weeks ago. Only had a few of the side effects happen to me. So not sure if this is part of that or a new site of RA πŸ€”?

Heel pain can sometimes occur in people with rheumatoid arthritis due to inflammation affecting the tendons, ligaments, or joints around the heel. Since your pain is severe and started recently, it would be a good idea to discuss it with your rheumatologist, especially as you recently started Enbrel. Cold providing relief and heat making it worse may be useful information to share with your doctor.

Heel pain is something many myRAteam members can relate to β€” you're definitely not alone! One member described it simply as: "My heel feels broken," which sounds very similar to what you're experiencing.

The type of pain you're describing could be related to enthesitis β€” inflammation where tendons and ligaments connect to the bone. This can happen with RA and cause severe heel pain, sometimes affecting balance and the ability to walk. Since this is a new symptom that started recently and is severe enough to bring you to tears, it's really important to contact your rheumatologist as soon as possible. They'll want to know about:

- The sudden onset within the last month
- The intensity and duration of the pain
- That cold helps and heat aggravates it
- Your current Enbrel treatment timeline

It could be a new RA site, or possibly related to your Enbrel, but only your doctor can properly evaluate that. Don't wait on this one β€” severe, new pain always deserves prompt medical attention!
