It took over a year to be diagnosed. Because all the symptom I had was fatigue, something so debilitating, I would fall sleep even driving. Been in so many doctors and all I heard was: “it is late covid, give time and all will be ok”. I had to really insist and argue with my doctor that it was not normal. It sounds strange, but I am happy that I know what I have now. At least I know I am not getting crazy!

It's completely understandable to feel relieved finally having a diagnosis after such a long journey. Many people with RA face significant delays in getting diagnosed - sometimes seeing multiple doctors before finding answers. Your diagnostic experience is common

Your year-long journey to diagnosis mirrors what many others experience. In one study, 28 percent of people with RA delayed seeing a doctor for more than four months, and almost half spoke with two doctors before seeing a rheumatologist.

Fatigue is a real and significant RA symptom, not something to dismiss. You were right to advocate for yourself and insist something wasn't normal. Getting a proper diagnosis means you can now start appropriate treatment to manage your symptoms and protect your joints from further damage.
