I was diagnosed in January. I have mainly hand stiffness & pain. So far I have been unable to tolerate weaning off low dose prednisone while on the MTX.

@A myRAteam Member I take a weekly injection of Enbrel. It is a biologic and my RA is "well controlled" in the words of my Rheumatologist on March 10th a couple of weeks ago. It has really been a great medication for me. I'm happy to answer any questions that I can for you.

You could try methotrexate injections, once a week. Better absorption.

I used methotrexate for a couple of weeks. It helped but inflamed my stomach so badly that I could not eat.

Mtx seems to take some time. I've been o ln mtx and Prednisone for quite a while. They added a bilogic that did not work and are changing it out for another one now. I've done a lot of research.
They say some people hit a mtx storm the day or so after taking which is terrible. But it should get easier with time and the med should slow the progression of the disease. So for me I'm sticking it out. Hoping the find a bilogic that my body and the insurance company like.
Best of luck to you.
