Has anyone had success with Rogaine for hair loss from methotrexate?

While the search results don't specifically mention Rogaine (minoxidil) for methotrexate-related hair loss, there are several approaches that may help manage this side effect.

Methotrexate can cause hair loss in about 1-10% of people taking it, depending on the study. This happens because methotrexate affects fast-growing cells, including those in hair follicles.

Common strategies that may help include:

- Taking folic acid supplements (usually recommended by doctors when prescribing methotrexate)
- Discussing dosage adjustments with your rheumatologist
- Considering a medication change if hair loss is significant

Hair loss from methotrexate is usually mild and often improves after stopping the medication. Some myRAteam members have reported their hair growing back, though sometimes with different texture.

It's important to talk openly with your doctor about your hair loss concerns. They can help determine whether adjusting your methotrexate dose, adding supplements, or exploring other treatment options would be appropriate for your situation.

Have other members tried Rogaine or similar products? Sharing experiences on your Activities page might connect you with others who've found helpful solutions.
