So far steroids are the only thing that I can function on. I don’t care about the side effects. I have to work, take care of my animals and get through the day. Whatever it takes.
Thank you all for the responses! After seeing my mom go through so many compound fractures with osteoporosis, I don't want to go there. I have osteoporosis, but the bone density said it's mild so far. A little worse in my left hip. They do not have me on anything for the osteoporosis. Next time I go to the rheumatologist I will talk to him.
I do have osteopenia and doing the prolia shot every 6 months.
good idea check with your doctor
Steroids are my last resort Rx, not only because of osteoporosis. I'm just really sensitive to them in a lot of ways. BUT... I'm lucky to be controlled by a biologic. If nothing else worked, I'd be right there with Greta2. I'd rather worry about osteoporosis than pain. Without pain I could do whatever I could to shore up my bones. Without pain I would exercise more. I'd be making bone broth every week and putting collagen in my coffee. I might even take that osteoporosis Rx. My PCP knows that I have an old vertical vibration plate. Last visit he told me to get it out and use it for my osteopenia. We're here for input, but that's a decision only you can make.
