Methotrexate is the same medication for both psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, so the potential side effects are generally the same. However, side effects vary from person to person, and many people tolerate it well. Your doctor can monitor and adjust treatment if needed.
I find the drug amazing. I couldn't hardly walk or hold a cup without
excruciating pain. My doctor told me methotrexate works the same but
without the rheumatoid factor in the blood.
I was on a weekly injection for a year & didn't have any side effects. I had some GI upset but was not sure if it was coming from the Methotrexate or Sulfasalazine & moved up to 4mg of Folic Acid & my GI issues disappeared & I never had any other side effects. I'm no longer on the Methotrexate & moved to a 20mg Leflunomide pill daily.
I find 3 tablets work very well. I used to be in excruciating pain with psoriatic arthritis and methotrexate worked wonders. My hair is very thin now though but the pain i was suffering in my joints made me want to die
