Has anyone had oxinium knee replacement? I’m allergic to metal, so this is my only option. Also wondering if TKR was helpful. Thank you! Kristin

Thank you, Veronica. It’s good to hear that. I’m very active, so it’s scary but I’m unable to use stairs or take walks, so I don’t have much choice. I appreciate you replying. Have a great day!

Hi Kristin, I had a tkr 4 years ago . It was the right decision for me. I feel sure that without it I wouldn’t be able to walk unassisted. Sending hugs 🤗

For knee replacements in general, they can be very helpful in managing severe joint damage from RA when other treatments haven't provided adequate relief. The decision should be made in partnership with your healthcare team, taking into account your specific symptoms, level of joint damage, and overall health status. You might want to ask your healthcare team about:
• Your specific allergy profile and how it might affect implant choices
• The surgeon's experience with Oxinium implants
• Expected recovery timeline
• Physical therapy requirements post-surgery
• How the surgery might affect your current RA management plan
