Sjogrens is when the disease occurs by itself. When symptoms occur with RA it is referred to as “Secondary Sjogrens”
It may be helpful to discuss this with your rheumatologist to clarify RA a symptoms and secondary Sjogrens symptoms.

I have secondary Sjogrens and my symptoms are dry mucous membranes, eyes. My mouth is dry and due to that I am at higher risk for cavities and other mouth issues.

I use eye drops multiple times a day. I don’t tolerate the drops with preservatives so I use individual vials of drops. Refresh Plus or Refresh Optive are i
the 2 drops that have helped me the most:

I drink 3 quarts of water every day. I measure it at the start of the day so when I walk by I notice it otherwise I get busy and hours can slip by with no fluids.
I have had some changes in the way things taste that may be related to the dry mouth.

If you have Sjögren's Syndrome, your symptoms may include:

- **Dry Eyes**: Your eyes might feel itchy, sore, or have a burning sensation, often feeling as if there's something in them that can't be removed. This is due to the immune system attacking glands that produce tears, leading to decreased moisture production.

- **Dry Mouth**: This results from the immune system targeting saliva-producing glands, which can affect your ability to swallow or speak comfortably and may lead to dental issues due to reduced saliva.

- **Fatigue**: Feeling unusually tired, even after a good night's sleep, is a common symptom.

- **Joint Pain**: Some people experience pain, swelling, or stiffness in their joints.

- **Dry Skin**: The skin may become dry and itchy.

- **Vaginal Dryness**: Women may experience vaginal dryness.

- **Persistent Dry Cough**: This can be due to the lack of moisture in the mouth and throat.

- **Hoarse Voice**: Dryness can affect the vocal cords, leading to a hoarse voice.

These symptoms can mimic other conditions, making Sjögren's Syndrome hard to diagnose. It's important to consult a healthcare provider if you're experiencing these symptoms, especially if they're persistent and affecting your daily life.
