This is what I found from Google University:"Rheumatoid arthritis causes an overactivity of this lining. It swells and becomes inflamed, destroying the joint, as well as the ligaments and other tissues that support it. Weakened ligaments can cause joint deformities — such as claw toe or hammer toe.

You also need to see your rheumatologist to see if your treatment is working or if you need a new treatment or change in treatment/increase in dosage!

It sounds like your symptoms could indeed be related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA can cause various symptoms in the feet, including:

- Swollen joints, which can occur in any joint but commonly affect the feet.
- Deformities such as dislocated toe joints, bunions, and hammertoes.
- Pain and difficulty with walking due to joint involvement.

If your second toe is swollen and crooked, it could be a manifestation of RA, as the condition can lead to joint deformities. It's important to consult with your healthcare provider for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. They can help manage your symptoms and potentially prevent further joint damage.

Hi MKR you won't believe this, years ago my foot Dr at the time put some pins in my toes to straighten them, I'm having problems with my middle toe on my left foot, it swollen and have an infection in it, my doctor took an X-RAY the toe is not broken the pin is, Dr can't go in and get it out, the things we go though with RA, I pray she won't have to take it off.

Also, it made my second toe feel broke. I had it XR
because I was so convinced it was broken.
