It seems like medical professionals think of you take heavy meds for RA you won’t have symptoms and can work. Yet from what I read it helps and some go in remission. Have found if I over work my hands then it doesn’t matter what I take.

Thanks Kathleen. I’m sorry you’re in so much pain too. RA does sucks!
I completely understand you when it comes to the fear of the side effects. Doctors keep telling me the benefits outweighs the risks and I’m really hoping and praying that it is true. What I have had to accept after doing my own research is the fact that RA is a progressive disease. So medication is given not for the pain per se but to slow down the progression of the RA in the body overtime. I do believe pushing and forcing ourselves to work while in pain makes us to overlook the symptoms and the pain thus causing more damage in the long run. Right now I can’t even type in the computer or even hold a pen to write without my wrists and fingers hurting. Not to mention every other joint in my body hurting.
And you’re absolutely right! Can pain be diagnosed? Short answer is NO. So ultimately we have to keep being our own advocate for our pain and suffering because only we know how hard our life has become with this disease. Doctors mean well but if they only have book knowledge on the matter they really are unable to truly understand what we feel. My advice to you is do your own research on any medication they want to give you and make an informed decision understanding the progression of the disease and that will give you some sense of control and peace of mind.
Hope you feel better soon and be able to hold your doggy without pain. Hugs 🤗

Wow that’s horrible. I am so sorry. Do you think trying to work makes itI I am not able to work since if I over use hands I hurt. Held my dog in car ride and my wrists hurt for two days. I am scared of medications one can cause vision lose and the others kidney and liver failure. Can’t imagine having to have infusions. Does that help? This darn RA hits us all so different. I don’t test high and don’t have much damage yet and it makes the drs feel like I don’t have chronic pain or shouldn’t.

I hear you! I was on meds for two years and had no symptom other than some pain here and there thou my inflammation markers would show and remain elevated. All that changed mid January. Since then I’ve been going from flare to flare to flare and I have not been able to return to work. How can I? I’m in pain nonstop from both the RA and the Fibromyalgia. I have been switched several times to different oral meds and injections and now I’m on IV infusions and so far no improvement either. Just hoping soon I regain my life back…
