I never had a rash but I wasn't able to see more than 5 ft in front of me and I had to stop it because of the ocular symptoms. I don't know if I was on it long enough for it to work because I don't feel like it helped. Of course this was many years ago. I do feel like they have better medications than plaquinil. Ask what other medications they have for you to try. You certainly don't want to deal with an ongoing rash.

I had an allergic reaction to it. Started 2 months after I started taking it. I stopped immediately (per my dr) and still dealing with rash and peeling all over for 5 weeks so far. It’s awful. I’m afraid to start another medication. So on top of the RA pain, I had/have itching and pain from the rash and peeling. I couldn’t make these things up if I tried 🥵

That made me nauseous, gave me anxiety, diarrhea and a rash. I was not able to take it.
