I started methotrexate injections 20 mg per week. After the second injection on the following day I started to experience pain in my left side under the ribs. I consulted my gp . He said it wasn’t connected to methotrexate. He put me on antibiotics as there was traces of blood in urine. After two courses of antibiotics the pain is still there. I also had an ultrasound scan which showed inflammation in the left kidney. Any advice on what to do next.
I would stop the Methotrexate and see if it stops.
Please let your Rheumatologist know what is going on....you may need a referral to a Nephrologist.
How are you doing? Kidney damage is listed as a rare side effect of methotrexate.
I seem to be having the same issue, but in the early stages. My RA saw a slight drop in kidney function, and there is consistent blood in my urine. my nephrologist took me off the methotrexate on Oct 1 - I go back on Nov 9. Hoping that I won't have to go for a biopsy
I had methotrexate for a long time, it was stopped as it damaged my liver. I now have cirrhosis of the liver, also have been diagnosed with sjorgens and pancreitis and am unable to eat some foods because of reactions. I have biologicals every 6 months. All this has built up over 30 years 😭
