I'm currently in a flare of both hands (tingling/numbness, burning, and swelling) and noticed that my veins look like they're going to bust out of my skin (first time veins done this). Also right hand has red blotches across top of hand and across knuckles. Is this normal/typical of a RA flare?
My "normal" flares last no more than 2 days. This flare up is the worst pain I have ever experienced. The pain finally went away but all my fingertips are still numb. Then while at my 3yr old grandsons dr appointment I got a pain on the top of my right hand, looked and now have a knot on my hand and never hit it on anything.
Hi Michelle…
I have that with flares that involve my hands and wrists. Swelling, heat, veins bulge and my knuckles and fingers , different on each hand, turn red, blotchy with severe itching.
I rotate ice and heat, take anti inflammatory medication and it usually goes down in a few days.
My knuckles and fingers turn red and itch almost every night but it’s better by morning. Then just the routine stiffness and discomfort.
How long does the flare last?
I have had that happen to me also. Something crazy seems to happen each time I have a flare up. It is hard to image your veins getting that large without bursting ! Freaked me out the first time. I hope this pass's soon for you.
