Can it cause dry skin? Only on my face. The only other medicine I am using is gabapentin and I have used this before without any side effects.

Members discussed whether Celebrex could cause dry facial skin, with the consensus being that age and rheumatoid arthritis naturally reduce collagen and moisture, making dryness more common regardless of medication. Several members shared practical skincare strategies including rich night creams, sea salt scrubs with coconut oil, Oil of Olay moisturizing body wash, and the importance of daily sunscreen, while also recommending thyroid testing and bloodwork to rule out other causes like hypothyroidism or medication effects. A recurring theme was the compounding challenge of aging with RA, where fatigue, brittle nails, thinning hair, and dry skin all interconnect, prompting members to share supplements like biotin, vitamin D, and protein powder as well as dermatology visits to address these overlapping concerns.

I have a sea salt scrub with coconut oil in shower then use Oil of Olay liquid moisturizing shower soap/wash. Even my hair went dry and brittle. Its been abt a year and its finally looking and feeling healthy again. I use Alfaparf liquid crystal hair oil every day. Also, Biotin, vitamin E, D3, Calcium and Iron. Ive added extra protein to my diet too. Kerosol ointment for feet helps. Also, going to dermatologist and having labs done to check thyroid.

A lot of women are taking levothyroxine for hypothyroidism bc we stop producing the hormones we need. Im craving sugars and carbs- which I normally dont, but last few months it has become apparent. My nails are crumbly. My skin is a mess at finger tips, toes, elbows and knees. Also eyebrows! No cream, salve or ointment has helped over 3 months. Old age along with RA, is tough. I'm going to smack it down daily with everything I can.

If anyone has good tips, please share.

No that’s not an Adverse Reaction of NSAIDS. What is Gastrointestinal bleeds and blood clots.

OK as we get older people our skin loses its ability to retain moisture. The only medications that contribute to dry skin are statins cholesterol meds and facial scrub for acne. Sunscreen is the most important cream to put on the face there are plenty of moisturizing lotions/creams for older skin.

In the winter my central heat dries me like a cracker. I use Chanel le lift night cream morning and night after washing. For the last 30 years. If I get lazy- it shows. One jar lasts an entire year if you use modestly- include nect and chest. I tried a ton of stuff cheap to expensive. But this is the only one worked to keep my skin moisturized. Celebrex was hard on my stomache esophagus and guts. Eat with it.

Just an FYI. I was on gabapentin and my kidney and liver levels were elevated. I had to get off. But I’m also on Enbrel. Make sure you get your blood work checked.
