Members shared their varied experiences with hand and knuckle swelling in rheumatoid arthritis, describing color changes ranging from red and white to purple, yellow, and even black-and-blue bruising, often worsened during flares or accompanied by Raynaud's syndrome. Several members offered practical strategies that have helped them manage symptoms, including switching from oral to injectable methotrexate to reduce side effects, adopting a plant-based whole foods diet, using compression gloves, applying topical creams like Voltaren or Aspercream, and reducing salt intake. A recurring theme was the importance of finding the right medication combination (such as Enbrel, methotrexate, or meloxicam) to control swelling and pain, with many members celebrating how treatment brought their once-severe symptoms under control.

Hope your swollen hand is feeling better. Since I’ve been taking Methotrexate I’ve not had any problem with my hands swelling. Hope you have a lovely time over the Festive Season.

Hey Michelle! My hands are always swollen! I also have nodules on most of my finger joints but no discolorization. I have Raynaud's so my fingers in general get bright red then white with cold.
Have a lovely, blessed day sweetheart!

I experience swelling in my hands often. Especially when I eat too much salt and sometimes when I use very little salt. I believe that diet plays a major role in RA. Most of my RA problems are in the joints of my hands and my feet. When I have a bad flare up they feel hot and swollen. That's when compression gloves or compression socks help. Also using a cream (like Aspercream or Voltarin).

Feel better!
