What helps when you have a long day of activities planned? I have recently used a wheel chair when I went to the amusment park- but the looks I was given was awful. I did this once and never did again. The next day is always painful after a full day of plans even using the treatments provided. If you guys have any reccomendations, I would be grateful for you to share!
If you need that chair USE IT! Don't worry about what ppl look at, if they don't like they don't need to look. I've actually said to ppl politely that it is rude to stare but if they have a question ask it, I don't mind. Keeps you in control of you. Keep going to the parks and have a fabulous time!
I recently used a wheelchair in an airport for the first time. I made sure to look my best and gave people those looks right back! And boy did it make my journey through the LA airport a breeze.
I have RA of the spine as well as everywhere else. I can only walk short distances and standing on for maybe a couple minutes. A wheelchair is very much needed. On top of that I've been on a really high dose of steroids for about 3 years (just started weaning down some) so I'm fat now too! I get looks but I look back with the biggest smile I can manage and say Hi! How are you? Usually leave them speechless. Unfortunately we can't control the actions of other people, but we can control our reactions. Red lipstick is my coat of armor. Don't deprive your family the joy of your company because of a wheelchair.
