trlove. 5 mg of prednisone is a small dose. If it is helping you I wouldn't worry about it for the moment. When you get stable on an NSAID or biologic, you can reduce it. But DO TRY to find a usual RA drug to help you. There are MANY! Trust your doc. Good Luck.

Currently that is all I have been on for a year. I take 5mg a day. I was on Actemra infusion every 4 weeks, but the drug was not available due to Covid. That left me with only prednisone which I NEED. When I don't take it my symptoms are pronounced.

Take as little as possible for as short a time as possible. Prednisone has many bad side effects at high dose and/or long term therapy. That said, sometimes we need it!

I have been off of it for about 3 weeks.. Skin cleared up so far. Don't think it ever worked for me.. Just the opposite. Doing just fine without!
