Three days ago I first noticed a hard, painless lump on my thumb. It it doesn't feel anything like a boil or infection but like a growth. It is not movable and is about 1/2 inch in diameter and 1/8 th raised. It is the same color and just feels like my finger decided to grow something as a decoration.

You might want to ask your Rheumatologist about prescribing a mild muscle relaxer vs pain meds. This is what ours did and it really helped.
I have RA and OA and very little pain, more stiffness. My daughter has PCOS and Fibromyalgia and lots of pain as they effect the nerves.
I hope this helps.
Take care of you!
I get them a lot on my fingers/thumbs and they are extremely painful. Some disappear after a week or two, but some stay. Those that do linger stop being painful after 7-10 days.
Hi Heyjude, my finger is like your photo, I find elasticated gloves help. jxx
They will not remove nodules means your r,a full blown right now you have to wait see if they go away on there on they do hurt I had them years ago on my elbows.
I gave these raided lumps on a few of my fingers. Sometimes they hurt, sometimes not!!
Had my thumb & first ginger get “locked” it’s really painful. But hand doc gave me 2 little braces for my thumbs. So it doesn’t happen too often now!🙏
