Why 2 Medicines For RA?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Fair Play, SC

Why do the doctors prescribe 2 medicines for RA? I have tried Methotrexate and had mouth blisters so I went on leflunomide. The doctor added infusions but I couldn't take that so he let me try rinvoq and I had blisters and rash. So then I started wondering why do I have to have another medicine with leflunomide.

Often one medicine just doesn't control RA and you still feel terrible. Adding another drug can slow the disease and you can feel WAY better. Worth a try!

Thanks. I asked my doctor the question when I saw him on Monday and he said the same thing. I am trying Humira now so I pray it works for me.

Most of the time they work better if you have two different medications.
