There are so many new DMARDS and Biologic medications now prescribed by rheumotologist to relieve pain ,stiffness and destruction to joints and internal organs from RA. Ask or go to rheumotogist. There are programs from these drug companies that manufacture them. Copays are low. Other options beside Prednisone and side effects. Ask your doctor, nurse about applying for these programs if you do not have insurance or on Medicare only. Medicare advantage programs reluctant or don't pay for these newer medications. Use Medicare and apply for the biologic med programs. When RA attacked my lungs in 2016. I was on steroids for inflammation, oxygen and resp Rx for nearly 6 months. I was started on Rituxan infusions with excellent results. I only had United healthcare insurance. I am not old enough for Medicare. Rituxan infusion program I enrolled in made all the difference in preventing lung damage and joint damage. If you are in a lot of pain there is other medications to help avoid the complications of RA. No need for Prednisone long-term or narcotics. Ask your Doctor to refer you to rheumotogist or ask your rheumotologist. My copay was only $5 when I started. Now the drug program plus my insurance pays for it all. Merry Christmas and Happy New year 2022! 🎄🎉Better health and pain and joint management to all. I don't take anything for pain, less stiffness with infusions, biologics. There are so many now. .😊👍

For pain I take hydrocodone, 10-325. Prednisone caused me to gain weight.
