So about 5 days ago my legs started to feel very heavy, like I had 50lb weights attached to each of them. It’s like that feeling when you are working out or lifting weights and can’t do one more step or rep. They aren’t painful in any way but just stretching in bed sends this wave of fatigue through them. My arms generally seem to be okay but I notice my jaw getting tired when I chew. Members validated the original poster's experience of sudden muscle weakness and heaviness in their legs, describing it as a frightening symptom that many with RA have faced, often alongside joint pain and stiffness. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them, including taking iron and B12 supplements, trying distilled water for hydration, attending warm water physical therapy or water aerobics classes, using massage and topical pain relief, and working closely with their rheumatologist to find the right medication. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating for yourself with medical providers, especially when symptoms feel new or alarming, and trusting that the right treatment plan can make a significant difference in regaining strength and mobility.

Stiffness is a classic symptom of RA. Usually occurs in the morning, but if my disease is not adequately controlled, I have it all the time. Consult your rheumatologist.

My legs get this way, esp. in hot weather. I have fibro and arthritis. Two totally different animals.

Try distilled water. I thought I was dehydrated and the distilled water was the only thing to take away the thirst. No diabetes here.

I find I fall really easy and then I can't get up. No power left in my legs and now I am seeing my arms are goingl. I tried to get up on our quad I almost made it but I couldn't hold onto it to get my legs on.
