I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, diagnosed 2016, had strokes in 2018, was put on Atorvastatin for high cholesterol and stroke prevention in 2018, can the statin be the cause of this pain in my calf muscles? Only had it last 6 to 8 months
I also had to stop taking statins due to muscle pain (mainly calf) - on the other hand my husband takes them with absolutely no problems!
Thanks everyone, im all better now it solved it stopping that Atorvastatin
Statin drugs can cause muscle pain. I would check with the doc.
I had been having them to and they were aweful. I did get my dr, to prescribe me prescription for potassium and I eat a banana every day. Pain isn't completely gone but not what it used to be. I hope you find something to work for you.

low potassium most of the time is the problem and if you are on a water pill and no potassium supplement, it may be your problem, statins usually flare the joints with muscle fatigue, so if stopping statins doesn't work try high potassium foods like v-8 juice or bananas
