COVID Vaccine

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has received the COVID vaccine and if so were there any side effects. I am in healthcare and it’s been offered to me but I’m fearful as a few coworkers (who are very healthy & active) have had bad side effects. Mostly severe joint pain, muscle pain and lethargy. Like I need anymore of that. Thanks in advance!

Members shared mixed experiences and concerns about receiving the COVID vaccine while managing rheumatoid arthritis, with most reporting mild side effects like a sore arm, though one member described a 24-hour period of fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, and their worst joint flare yet after the second dose. Several members expressed anxiety about reduced vaccine effectiveness due to immunosuppressant medications and biologics like Embrel, noting that people with RA were not included in initial trials, though their rheumatologists generally encouraged vaccination. A recurring theme was the supportive community reassurance that temporary discomfort was worth the protection, with members promising to stand by each other through any vaccine-related flares or side effects.

I got my shot and I am on EMBREL . Only had a sore arm. Just hoping it works on us. They did not include us in the initial testing. My Doc said they don’t see a reason why it would not and they are doing studies now
