Tell me all about your experience with Humira. It will be my first biologic and I will be starting it in the next week or two.

Members shared widely varying experiences with Humira as a first biologic for rheumatoid arthritis, with some reporting excellent results lasting years while others experienced no relief, allergic reactions, or side effects like psoriasis. Several members offered practical advice, including allowing the injection to warm to room temperature for a painless shot, giving it at least two to three months to reach full effectiveness, and supplementing with zinc and vitamin D to support immune health. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error nature of finding the right biologic, with members emphasizing patience, self-advocacy, and the understanding that what works beautifully for one person may not work at all for another.

Hi! I've been on it for exactly a year now and can't imagine life without it!!

It took a while to kick in.... I'd say 2-3 months for full effect like they always say lol.

I also take prednisone, Plaquenil and methotrexate. Sometimes you've got to get the correct mix for your body.

Good luck!!! 😉

It worked for me for about 5 years! It quit working though, and I've gone through almost everything else. I've had RA for 16 years. Right now rituxan is working for me!

Everyone is different. It didn't help me but caused skin problems--between it and Enbrel--neither helped. Pain and inflammation was still there. Hopefully it works for you!

Love and hugs!

I also had Humira injections. About a year into it, I developed psoriasis, severely on my face. A dermatologist said it was something in the Humira that did it to me, so I was taken off of it.

I have been on Humira for almost 3 years now with great success. If you will allow the shot to warm up to room temperature before injection, you will not feel it at all. I am also on lefleunomide and take a strong multivitamin with iron because I am anemic and I have not had so much as a cold since I started taking them. My rheumatologist said it was the zinc and the extra Vitamin D that helped my immune system fight everything off. Good luck!
