I am currently taking Narcotics.
In my case I am mostly using my Narcotics for my hip pain that is related to partially torn tendons, not RA, obviously though my hand pain which is RA is being helped as well.
I am interested in hearing from people who took Narcotics for years and have successfully/not successfully stopped taking their Narcotics.
Are you seeing a pain Doctor?
Are you using Mindfulness/Cognitive Therapy to help with your RA pain/or non RA pain?

Members shared deeply personal experiences with long-term narcotic use for rheumatoid arthritis and other pain, with many relying on medications like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and extended-release morphine to maintain their ability to work and function daily, often under the care of pain management doctors. Several members described the challenges of weaning off narcotics, including one who experienced severe withdrawal symptoms like pain, depression, and feeling like they were dying, while others expressed fear of addiction due to experiences with family and friends, yet found themselves dependent on the medications to manage unrelenting pain when biologics failed. A recurring theme was the importance of finding a trustworthy pain management specialist, exploring alternatives like muscle relaxers or CBD oil, and holding onto hope for future relief while navigating the difficult balance between needing pain control and fearing dependency.

Yes, I have a pain management doctor. If you don’t have one, may I recommend it. They don’t just prescribe for you, they address all your pain, regardless of the cause.

I personally know pain and what it feels like and how it affects your life thank God my treatments work to where i am not always in pain. I do take opioids when i have to but not on a regular basis and only at night so i can rest. I am not afraid of them at all i would go to my doctor if i thought i needed them constantly. Hopefully there will be a way somewhere that you can reduce that pain you are in my thoughts you are in my prayers for life

I was on Oxycodone for a few years for pain management. I was leary of taking it too much so managed to wean myself down to half a pill a day before bedtime. But to go off of it was the worst experience. I felt like I was dying. Pain, depression, awful thoughts... Felt like a complete junkie. It took a month before I started to feel normal. I still take prednisone for pain however.
