I Was Told Not To Take My Folic Acid On The Day I Take My Methotrexate. I Am Now Wondering If It’s Okay To Take My Collagen Peptides.

I just started taking Methotrexate 5 weeks ago and am nervous that I may be jeopardizing the usefulness by putting Collagen Peptides in my coffee every morning. I figured that it helps hair growth as does Folic Acid. I tried googling for an answer with no success.

Assuming your rheumatologist or dermatologist recommended you taking Collagen Peptides (though I’d be shocked if they did), as several studies have shown their safety is very questionable, since they are really composed of nasty stuff...cows lips , pigs feet, other chicken, cow, fish and pigs parts if I told u what you’d likely throw up. And they are categorized as a food supplement so they have no govt oversight in quality, purity or safety. It’s a totally buyer beware product.
These collagen animal parts are known to harbor bacteria and depending where their harvested (remember bottled in America, does not mean sourced from America) could contain unsafe heavy metals. And, from a biochemical standpoint , your stomach acid is breaking them down in ur gut into amino acids well before they reach your skin or hair follicles intact anyway. Might as well just eat organic eggs for higher safer quality of amino acids. Just sayin. 🤷‍♂️
In my opinion as a PhD Biochemist, I personally wouldn’t ingest OTC Collagen Peptides without specific doctors ordered. But I’m super careful and safe what I put in my body. So best to ask ur doc who prescinded them to you the best way she to wants u to take them.
Good luck. Best wishes ❤️

Who told you that? I take my folic acid and methotrexate on the same day. I just usually take my folic acid when I wake up and methotrexate a couple of hours later.
