Anyone Take Cymbalta For OA Pain

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Maple Ridge, BC

I have RA and take Erelzi. I have some days where I have sharp/shooting pain. Doctor says it is from my OA and has prescribed Cymbalta. I have been doing well on Erelzi with only headaches in the beginning. I am afraid to take another medication with such bad side effects. Anyone taking Cymbalta for OA or Fibromyalgia? How is it working and how are you doing with side effects?

Here’s an update about my use of cymbalta. I decided I was doing so much better that I didn’t need it. Stopped it abruptly and I started getting sharp pains in my thighs that felt like jolts of electricity, Discovered that you can not abruptly discontinue taking it. The dosage had to be gradually reduced.

I was given Cymbalta for Neuropathy and it has been wonderful for that plus I found it does help with my other pain. I have RA Fibromyalgia and Sjogrens so never sure which one is the one that is hurting me but the Cymbalta does give some pain relief. It does build up in your system so you can not take as needed you have to continue daily and then if you want to quit you have to wean yourself off it. good luck

I have fibro too the only thing that helps is Gabapentin I take 3200mgs a day I have no felling on my legs and it helps the nerve pain I tried cymbalta but it didn't even touch it! They treat the ra completely separate!

I could not find anything to help with my Neuropathy so they doctor gave me the Cymbalta and I did not take it for some time but my family doctor said go on it wont hurt and I did and what a godsend it was for the Neuropathy. while off my regular meds for my RA I asked the doctor what was I to do and he told me to take an extra Cymbalta so I did and it helps with the pain from the Fibro RA or the Sjogrens whichever is hurting me. Really impressed with it and no side effects. If I want to stop It now for whatever reason I would have to taper off.

I had nausea when I tried Cymbalta.
Cymbalta has helped many, start with the lowest possible dose, if you have side effects, you can just stop taking the Cymbalta.
I was told on this site that after 2 weeks, the nausea side effect often goes away.
Again try it, if it helps with your pain then that is one more helpful tool.
It is very commonly prescribed for pain, by Pain Specialists.
I was told to take the lowest dose for 30 days, before 3pm.
Hope this is helpful @A myRAteam Member
