Was diagnosed with RA & fibromyalgia 12/2018. RF- but anti-CCP is (+). Was put on sulfasalazine initially but don’t feel anything different. There’s no day that I don’t have multiple joint pain. April 2019, methotrexate was added and same thing. The specific joint pain I have in the several months may go away but another joint and muscle pain starts. It is so depressing because I’m an active, multi tasker person before RA. The advise I got from my doctors is to keep going which I did. It took 2… read more

Members deeply connected over the frustration of taking methotrexate and other RA medications yet still experiencing daily pain, exhaustion, and declining quality of life, with many questioning whether their treatments were truly working. Several members shared experiences with medication side effects including nausea, hair loss, fever, and feeling sick, as well as practical strategies like taking folic acid to prevent hair loss, switching to injections or infusions when pills stopped working, and using heat therapy and soaking in tubs for relief. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of losing independence and identity to the disease, the challenge of others not understanding invisible pain, and the determination to keep trying different treatments while taking things one day at a time.

The methotrexate is probably what’s making you feel sick , it made me feel sick for first few weeks then when I went up a few tablets I was very sick and had to stop it. Some people swear by it but I didn’t whatsoever. Good luck and chin up. X

I know exactly how you feel honey. I am almost afraid to do anything because just the slightest twist of my arm brings tears to my eyes and causes nausea from the pain. I just want to be normal and pain free again. I have tried plaquenil (affected my glaucoma), methotrexate (worked fur a few months) tons of prednisone, arava, Enbrel (allergic), and humira. My mom receives infusions but they don't last either. One day at a time I guess
