I had my labs and annual wellness visit this morning, my regular doctor does labs for my RA doctor when I go in, good news all my labs are doing fine. Will see my RA doctor in October for a six month checkup and labs. My doctor ordered a bone density test as some of the drug can cause a problem.

I take Enbrel and methotrexate at the same time and it’s really helped me. I split up my Methotrexate as well. 4 one night, 4 the next night. Enbrel has a mini injector now and it’s so much better than the needles or epi pen like injector. I’ve tried all three and the mini is the least painful. Super easy to inject! I do it in my stomach and have less problems. In my leg would cause a huge bruise, very small in my stomach. Plus, there are no preservatives in the mini so you can leave it out of the fridge longer and it’ll still work fine. Good luck! It’s worth it!

ArleneQuinesNeel. I started taking turmeric about a week ago, had my yearly medical visit yesterday and was told to stop taking this supplement. It may be that it is nit good with medications I take. I too try to have more fish and salads.

I have been taking methotrexate (MTX) at 25 mg since January. I take 5 pills on Friday night, and then 5 pills Saturday morning (after breakfast). I used to take them all at once on Saturday morning and was very nauseated for half the day that way. By splitting up the dose, it helps a lot with the nausea (which I still get but not as bad). I also upped (at my doctor's recommendation) my folic acid. I was taking 1 mg per day but now I take 2-3. On Saturday, I am extremely tired. I feel like I can't get through the day without at least one nap. Sometimes two!

I debated taking the MTX in a shot. But I just hated the idea of being tied to needles.

I regret that my weekends are messed up due to the MTX! I admit it - I really wish that it wasn't the case. The MTX brought my inflammatory markers down a bit though (rheumatoid factor, c-reactive protein). But not enough...so I have to start a biologic too in the next few weeks (which, by the way, is by shot I will have to give myself). Yikes..

Good luck to you!

The only side effect I have noticed is when I have consumed alcohol. It actually makes me feel quite ill. I therefore rarely drink and if I do, I only have one glass of wine.

Only other thing I have noticed is that I get FEWER cold sores since starting Methotrexate, 8 years ago. Not sure if this is coincidental or if it’s a real thing, but I’m happy with this.
